The Story of Kindred Place’s Growth and Impact
A Place of Healing and Return Every month, more people are choosing Kindred Place for mental wellness support — and importantly, many are coming back, showing that this is a trusted place where healing continues. In August 2025 alone, 92 clients returned from previous months, while 83 new clients walked through the door for the first time. That means nearly half of the people we serve are coming back, and every month new families and individuals join them. Since January, Kindred Place has served 740 clients in total, and our clinicians have collectively carried a caseload of 740 over those months. These numbers demonstrate not just reach, but consistent, ongoing engagement in services. Serving All Ages Our clients span every stage of life. In just a few months: Dozens of children aged 8–12 and teens 13–18 began receiving services. Young adults (19–30) and parents in their 30s and 40s made up some of the largest groups, reflecting how families seek help together. Even older adults, ages 60+, are turning to Kindred Place, showing our reach across generations. This age diversity highlights that mental wellness is a need for everyone — and Kindred Place is meeting that need. Who We Serve Our clients represent the fabric of Memphis: The majority identify as African American/Black, but we also see Hispanic/Latino, White, Asian, and multi-racial clients. We’re breaking language barriers — most clients speak English, but Spanish, Russian, Lingala, and Swahili are also spoken here. Kindred Place is making sure that no matter your background, you have a seat at the table for healing. Breadth of Services The services people are seeking are varied and tailored: Individual counseling is our most requested service, with over 78 sessions in April alone and continued growth each month. Domestic violence (DV) groups and assessments are saving lives and stabilizing families. Parenting programs in both English and Spanish empower mothers and fathers to build stronger homes. Even children’s processing groups (like “Paint & Processing” for ages 8–12) are giving kids creative outlets for healing. By offering so many pathways, Kindred Place is addressing the unique needs of every family. Strong Clinical Team Behind the numbers are our clinicians. Each therapist manages dozens of clients — in March alone, 62 families were served, and by August the caseload reached 175. In total, clinicians have supported 742 engagements since January, a remarkable testament to their dedication and resilience. Referrals and Community Trust We are trusted by courts, schools, and community agencies. Referrals came from: Word of Mouth Family Safety Center Shelby County Pre-trial Juvenile Court Church Health Center Domestic Violence shelters and law firms This wide referral network proves that Kindred Place is the go-to hub for families in crisis who need long-term support. Why It Matters The numbers tell a clear story: 740 clients have been served since January 2025. Therapists have carried a total caseload of 740. New people are finding Kindred Place every month. Existing clients keep coming back for more support. Children, adults, and families of all ages, races, and languages are finding healing here. Kindred Place is not just a counseling center — it is a cornerstone of community healing in Memphis.
