Kindred Place is a counseling and education center for adults and children. While our doors are open to all, we specialize in family dynamics. Through classes, individual sessions, and group therapy (available in both English and Spanish), we help individuals and families navigate the challenges of partnerships and parenting to build stronger connections, improve communications, and resolve conflicts peacefully.
Our story began in 1982 when local Exchange Club members Lewis Pittman, William Pretsch, Bob Williams, and fellow Exchangites raised funds to establish a Family Center, training volunteers to mentor parents whose families were in trouble because of anger and violence.
What started as a home visitation service for families in crisis has evolved into a full-service mental health and education agency offering counseling, group therapy, assessments, anger management classes, parenting support, and conflict resolution. Our work has always been a two-generation model with the goal of ending the cycle of violence.
Kindred Place is licensed in the state of Tennessee as a child abuse prevention agency. We comply with mandatory reporting requirements, and we abide by our written Child Protection Policy.
